BIOGRAPHY

Katie Black was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California. Katie was raised in a family with a long legal history. Katie's grandfather, Andrew J. Black, was an attorney admitted to the State Bar of California in October, 1929 and Katie's father, Retired Superior Court Judge Thomas A. Black (1932-1996), was admitted to the State Bar of California in January, 1960. Katie worked many of her childhood summers at her father's private law practice, prior to him being appointed to the Superior Court.

Katie graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Thereafter, she graduated from Ventura College of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree. In 2019, Katie moved to Reno and began her position as Senior Paralegal for Barber Law Group.

Katie's legal education lends her additional legal expertise and knowledge, which she puts to work in service for BLG's clients every day. Katie has over thirty years experience in family law, with the vast majority of that experience serving as a an exclusively family law paralegal. Katie specializes in complex and high value divorce litigation assistance and provides excellent client communication. When Katie is not tirelessly assisting BLG clients, she Katie enjoys cooking, spending time with her children and two yellow labs, and being outdoors.
